1. The Original Shower Door Gives Out First
Builder-grade sliding shower doors from this era were almost always aluminum-framed with plastic rollers, and they were never meant to last 25+ years. The rollers wear down first, so the door starts sticking or dropping off the track. Not long after, the aluminum frame and bottom rail have collected enough hard-water buildup that no amount of scrubbing gets the glass fully clear again. By the time we get the call, most homeowners have already tried a magic eraser and a bottle of CLR. At that point it's a replacement, not a repair — the good news is a new frameless or semi-frameless door is usually a same-week turnaround once it's measured.
2. Kitchen Cabinet Hardware Starts Failing Quietly
This one sneaks up on people. Original oak cabinets from the 90s and early 2000s used hinges and drawer glides that were fine for the first decade, then start sagging a little at a time — a door that doesn't quite close flush, a drawer that needs a shoulder-bump to shut. Most homeowners just live with it for a year or two before calling, because no single hinge feels worth a service call on its own. It almost never is a single hinge by the time we're out there; it's usually eight or ten of them going at once, which is exactly the kind of job that's fast and affordable to knock out in one visit.
3. Drywall Cracks Appear Near Doorways and Windows
Hairline cracks above door frames and at window corners are just normal house settling at this age — they're rarely structural. What makes them a real repair rather than a caulk-and-forget job is that Green Valley's stucco-and-drywall combo texture is genuinely hard to match if you don't do it often. A patch that isn't textured correctly stands out worse than the crack did, especially once it's painted a slightly different white than the surrounding 20-year-old wall.
